European football's governing body UEFA is preparing a criminal complaint against FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Swiss courts, accusing him of financial mismanagement over his failed plan to sell a stake in the FIFA World Cup's commercial rights.
The scheme, which would have seen a new company called FIFA Forward Enterprise sell a twenty per cent stake to private investors for four-point-two billion dollars, was abandoned at the start of August after fierce opposition from football leaders worldwide.
UEFA has now filed court documents in the United States seeking evidence from firms it says were involved in the deal.
