A wildfire raging through southwest France is now just nine miles (fifteen kilometres) from the city of Bordeaux, with the mayor warning the blaze is approaching the city's entry points.
More than two hundred and twenty thousand people have been forced from their homes in the Gironde region, after a further fifty-five thousand were evacuated overnight on Sunday. The fire has burned more than forty thousand hectares, making it one of France's worst land devastations since the Second World War.
