US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has told the Senate Appropriations Committee that the war in Iran has cost an estimated 37-and-a-half billion dollars so far — and has asked Congress to approve 67 billion dollars in additional military funding.
The disclosure marks the first official updated cost figure since the early weeks of the conflict, which the Trump administration initially said would last only a matter of weeks.
Senate Democrats have accused the White House of poor planning, with Senator Patty Murray warning the conflict is spiralling out of control.
