BRITISH PRIME MINISTER STARMER ANNOUNCES HIS RESIGNATION AS LABOUR LEADER AFTER PARTY UPRISING

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced he will step down as leader of the Labour Party, after an internal revolt within his parliamentary ranks.

The announcement, made outside Number 10 Downing Street on Monday, follows weeks of mounting pressure — including the resignations of two senior Cabinet ministers and reported calls from allies to set out an exit plan.

Andy Burnham, who won a by-election on Thursday to secure a seat in the House of Commons, is widely seen as the frontrunner to succeed him.

In the speech, Sir Keir Starmer acknowledged his party had lost confidence in his leadership.
