BRITISH PRIME MINISTER KEIR STARMER RESIGNS AS LABOUR LEADER AFTER PARTY UPRISING

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced he will step down as leader of the Labour Party, after months of internal revolt that saw two senior cabinet ministers quit in quick succession.

Sir Keir made his resignation statement outside Number 10 Downing Street on Monday morning, saying he had informed King Charles the Third of his decision and that nominations for a new leader will open on the ninth of July.

Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester who won a parliamentary by-election last week, is the overwhelming favourite to replace him.

Sir Keir spoke on Monday morning outside Number 10 Downing Street.
