Republicans have seized control of the US Senate, and made sizable gains in America's mid-term elections.
While votes continue to be counted in several close races, it's apparent that the Democrats have suffered massive setbacks.
President Obama, with two years left in office, will face Republican majorities in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
