India-Bangladesh spar over monk's arrest

Neighbours India and Bangladesh have exchanged accusations over the arrest of an Indian monk.

New Delhi has urged Dhaka 'to ensure the safety and security of Hindus', even as Bangladesh has accused India of 'misrepresenting facts'.

The Hindu monk was arrested this week for reportedly 'insulting the Bangladeshi flag'.

CEASEFIRE BETWEEN ISRAEL AND HEZBOLLAH BEGINS

Trump may pursue better ties with North Korea

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's team is considering direct talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, according to media reports.

Imran Khan's party calls off protest after police crackdown

An overnight crackdown by security agencies in Pakistan has forced Imran Khan's party to call off a mass protest.

Khan's party and supporters were campaigning to secure his release- the former Prime Minister has been in jail since August last year on corruption charges he claims are false.

Imran Khan's supporters claim soldiers opened fire on unarmed protesters - with the police saying 450 demonstrators have been arrested for defying a ban on protests.

Biden confirms Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire deal

US President Joe Biden has confirmed a ceasefire agreement has been reached between Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. 


Thousands of people have been killed - and more than a million displaced - in the latest round of the conflict, which began following the October 7th attacks by Hamas in Israel.

No one will win a trade war,' China says after Trump tariff threat

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's supporters have clashed with soldiers and police teams at the outskirts of Islamabad.

Police say one officer has been killed and more than 100 have been injured.
