French president says France shares pain of Israel on anniversary of October 7 attackss

The French president has issued a statement online on the anniversary of the Hamas attacks in Israel on October 7.

Emmanuel Macron said "The pain remains, as vivid as it was a year ago. The pain of the Israeli people. Ours. The pain of wounded humanity."

It comes after a tense time for France-Israel relations, following the president's call for an arms embargo on Israel.

Pakistan's beefs up security at the country's largest airport

Pakistan has hiked security at the country's largest airport in the southern city of Karachi.

Two Chinese nationals were killed and 10 others injured in a powerful blast near the Karachi airport on Sunday.

Search and rescue efforts are ongoing to try and find more than 70 people who went missing after a boat they were travelling in capsized on Lake Kivu in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo on Thursday. Chagos Decision Prompts Fresh Falklands Calls

After the UK government announced it was returning the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, there are fresh calls to give up control of the Falkland Islands.


Argentina's foreign minister has promised 'concrete action' but the Falklands governor says Britain's commitment to the territory is 'unwavering'.

EU set to approve tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles

The European Union is set to approve imposing tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles.

An EU investigation found that China's state subsidies were unfairly undermining European car competitors.

There's been a series of large explosions in Beirut as Israel's air strikes targeting Hezbollah continue.

One explosion was close to Beirut's international airport.

Lebanon says 37 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in the last 24 hours.

It's reported the target of Israel's latest strikes was Hashem Safieddine, touted as a replacement for Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah who was killed last week.
