SINGAPORE DEFENDS SWIFT SWEETNER STRATEGY

INTRO
Singapore has defended its strategy of offering sweeteners to make sure Taylor Swift performed in the city state as the only stop in Southeast Asia on her world tour.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said the economic benefits outweighs the costs, and it was not 'unfriendly' towards neighbours after countries like Thailand and the Philippines expressed anger over the exclusive deal.

The pop star is playing six sold-out shows in Singapore, her only stop in Asia, aside from Japan.
