The US defends its decision to veto the ceasefire resolution in Gaza

The United Nations General Assembly has convened to debate the latest
Security Council rejection of a resolution on ceasefire in Gaza.
Last month, the United States vetoed a resolution in the council that
was put forward by Algeria.
The UNGA according to UN rules has to call an emergency special
session, when a veto is used in the Council.
