Indian farmers and government to hold talks again

Protesting farmers say they'll hold where they are and not march to the capital New Delhi, so long as no more tear gas is fired at them.

That's as union leaders plan to hold a third round of talks with a team of ministers.

The farmers want the Modi government to honour promises made in 2021, including higher prices for their crops.

The protests come just months before a general election, and are reminiscent of the year-long 2020 demonstrations.

Indian prime minister Narendra Modi inaugurates grand Hindu temple in the UAE

India's prime minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated a grand Hindu temple in the United Arab Emirates.

This follows his recent inauguration of a long-planned temple in the north of the country, which was built on the site of a mosque that was torn down by a Hindu mob.

One dead, 22 injured in Super Bowl parade mass shooting

One person has died and 22 others have been injured in a shooting in

Deadly shooting at US Super Bowl parade

Police say there are several casualties in Kansas City, after shots were fired during a Super Bowl victory parade. 


Thousands of fans had gathered on Wednesday in the US state of Missouri to celebrate the Kansas Chiefs's victory in America's National Football League game.

Gaza ceasefire resolution to be tabled before the end of the week

The Arab group of countries at the United Nations says a draft
resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in
Gaza will be table before the Security Council in the coming days.

UK peer warns of unintended impact of Rwanda bill

The former chief of the British armed forces has warned that the threat to deport migrants to Rwanda may undermine trust and co-operation between the UK and its allies.

Regional tensions affecting Yemen's peace process

The United Nations says rising regional tensions linked to the war in
Gaza is slowing down peace efforts in Yemen.
The world body's Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg told the
Security Council on Wednesday that the situation in Yemen deserves its
full attention.
However, the United States maintains it will continue to defend itself

Democrats take back US lawmaker George Santos' seat

Democrat Tom Suozzi has won a special election to replace disgraced US lawmaker George Santos in New York.


The Republican Representative was expelled from Congress in December after being charged with fraud, money laundering, and lying to lawmakers.


The race was viewed by many as an early test for November's general election, with immigration, the economy and abortion coming out as key issues for voters.

UK inflation holds at 4%

The rate of inflation remained unchanged at 4 per cent in the UK last month - despite economists' forecasts it would rise.

It remains well above the Bank of England's 2 per cent target, driven by higher gas and electricity prices.

Tear gas shells fired at farmers as march enters second day

Thousands of farmers who're attempting to march to New Delhi have been halted at a border crossing 200 kilometers away from the Indian capital.

Security teams are using tear gas shells to stop their march, a move that's been criticised by the opposition.

Farmers have accused the Indian government of not fulfilling its promise to increase income support for farm produce, two years after a similar yearlong protest ended.
