Trump ordered to pay $83 mil in defamation case

Donald Trump has been ordered to pay more than $80 million to writer E. Jean Carroll by a Manhattan jury.


On Friday, the jury found comments made by the former US President in 2019 were defamatory.


Trump called the verdict 'absolutely ridiculous', and claimed the case was a 'witch hunt' against him.

U.S. journalist to be held another two months by Russia, without trial

Evan Gerschkovich, who is being held in Russia, has once again had his detention extended – even before his case has made it to court.
He will remain behind bars until at least March 30th – at least a year since he was first detained for spying, charges that the U.S. government denies.

UN launches full scale investigation into UNRWA staff participation in Oct 7th attacks on Israel

The United Nations Secretary General has expressed alarm at
allegations that several UNRWA staff were involved in the October 7th
attacks on Israel.
The UN's aid agency in Gaza is launching an urgent and comprehensive
independent review of all staff.

agency that's tasked with supporting Palestinian refugees.

Trump defamation trial drawing to a close

Donald Trump stormed out of a Manhattan courthouse on Friday, where he is facing a defamation lawsuit.


The former US President could be forced to pay millions of dollars in damages to writer E. Jean Carroll,  who is suing Trump for defamation over denials that he sexually abused her.


Trump continues to deny any wrongdoing. Closing arguments are taking place Friday.

Kenneth Smith executed in Alabama with nitrogen gas

An Alabama inmate was executed with nitrogen gas on Thursday.
This was the first time this method was used and the US' have come
under fire from the international community over this capital
punishment method

ICJ orders Israel to "take all measures" to prevent genocide in Gaza


The International Court of Justice has ordered Israel to "take all measures within its power" to prevent potential acts of genocide in Gaza.

But the ICJ stopped short of calling for an immediate ceasefire in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

This initial ruling comes after South Africa accused Israel of committing genocide, which the Israeli government denies.

Liverpool Manager Klopp To Step Down At Seasons End

Nigeria Orders Arrest of Persons Indulging in Same-sex Marriages

Pakistan accuses India of extrajudicial killings

Survey concludes that a Hindu temple existed on site of India's Gyanvapi mosque

The Archaeological Survey of India says there is evidence that a Hindu temple once existed on the site of a large, famous mosque in the city of Varanasi.

Donald Trump defends defamatory remarks in New York trial

Former US President Donald Trump says he made defamatory remarks whilst in the White House "to defend himself, his family and the Presidency."


Testifying in a New York courtroom on Thursday, Mr Trump insists he didn't intend to cause harm to E Jean Carroll.


He accused the author of making up a sexual abuse claim against him for financial and political reasons.


But, he says, he stands by his denial of her allegations.

Global shipping "not in crisis" just yet, says the UN
