Survey concludes that a Hindu temple existed on site of India's Gyanvapi mosque

The Archaeological Survey of India says there is evidence that a Hindu temple once existed on the site of a large, famous mosque in the city of Varanasi.

Hindu groups had filed a case claiming that the mosque was built on the site of a temple

This comes after Indian prime minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a Hindu temple in Ayodhya on Monday, which has controversially been constructed after a mosque was torn down from that location by a Hindu mob in 1992.

Rebecca Bundhun reports.
