More Ugandan officials face visa restrictions to the US after the United States announced new sanctions against individuals responsible for 'undermining democracy and human rights abuses.'

The US President had first announced the sanctions after Uganda passed a strict anti-gay law in May.

No particular names have been mentioned this time around but earlier in the year, the US revoked the visa for the Speaker of Uganda's Parliament.

UK TO SIGN RWANDA MIGRATION TREATY

UK Home Secretary James Cleverly is in Rwanda to sign a treaty with the country to see some asylum seekers sent there to process their claims.

US Deputy NSA Jon Finer in New Delhi

US and India officials have held talks, the first bilateral engagement between both sides since an Indian national was charged in connection with an assassination attempt on an American Sikh separatist. 

United States' Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer acknowledged India probing the role of an unnamed Indian official.

His statement comes after he met with top Indian government officials in New Delhi on Monday including Indian foreign minister S Jaishankar.

Cyclone Michaung makes landfall in south India

Cyclone Michaung is making landfall in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

The storm had already pounded the states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh with heavy rain. At least nine people have been killed in incidents related to the weather so far. 

Authorities have been preparing for the cyclone, which is expected to bring more than 200mm of rain in the next 24 hours to some areas.

Five more US military bodies found after Japan Osprey crash

The US military has discovered five more bodies after an Osprey crashed in west Japan last week, bringing the death toll to six.  

The aircraft was carrying eight military personnel when it plummeted into the sea off Yakushima Island.

UN event condemns sexual violence on Oct 7

Israel's ambassador to the United Nations has condemned women's rights groups for not speaking out over sexual violence carried out on October 7.
