India could resume issuing visas to Canadian

Detroit synagogue president murdered near home

The president of a synagogue in the US city of Detroit has been found
stabbed to death near her home.

Samantha Woll's body was discovered in a nearby park

Police have yet to identify any suspects.

US Republicans seek new House Speaker nominee

Washington is preparing to enter another week without a House Speaker,
after Republican nominee Jim Jordan was removed on Friday after losing
three rounds of voting.

The former Speaker Kevin McCarthy is now backing party whip Tom Emmer.

Emmer has spent the weekend trying to lock in support from all sides

Second UN convoy enters Gaza

A second UN aid convoy has entered Gaza, but the world body's warning

Another of Donald Trump's co-defendants in a criminal case in Georgia has pleaded guilty to conspiring to overturn the 2020 election results.

US House of Representatives in stasis after third Speaker election defeat

US Congressman Jim Jordan has failed for the third successive time to win enough votes to become Speaker of the House of Representatives, leaving the heart of American democracy in a state of paralysis. 


The hardline conservative Representative had bid to step into the vacant seat of power after the ousting of Kevin McCarthy more than two weeks ago. 


But Jordan fell short yet again on Friday, with 25 of his own Republican Party colleagues voting against him.
