US soldier Travis King expelled from North Korea

An American soldier is back in US custody after being expelled from North Korea.


Travis King crossed the border from South Korea, where he was serving, in July.


According to North Korean state media, authorities have finished an investigation of the soldier.

UK’s First Drug Consumption Facility Approved


The UK's first illegal drug consumption facility has been approved by authorities in Scotland.

Italian government set to lower growth forecast for 2024


Italy's government is expected to lower its growth forecast for 2024 after Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni holds a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

China says claims of forced labour are an "enormous lie"

N Korea slams Japan over treated water discharge

North Korea is criticizing Japan over the release of contaminated, treated, nuclear wastewater into the Pacific Ocean. 

It comes after China placed a total ban on all Japanese seafood after Tokyo began discharging water used to cool the wrecked Fukushima nuclear power plant last month.

India's foreign minister says that India is open to looking into any "specific" information that Canada could provide related to the killing of a Sikh separatist leader.

U.S. Senate votes on stopgap funding measure, up to House lawmakers to agree

Members of U.S. Congress have put forward a short-term spending proposal to try and avoid a government shutdown.

Late on Tuesday, Senators voted on what's called a 'continuing resolution' which they could send to the House later this week, to vote on before a September 30th deadline.

Judge finds Trump liable for fraud

A judge in New York has found Donald Trump liable for fraud.

It's a major win for the state's Attorney General who has accused the
former president of manipulating the value of his assets for favorable
bank loans.

The case is expected to go to trial on October 2nd but Trump has sued

Guterres says nuclear weapons must be eliminated

Russian court dismisses dissident Alexey Navalny’s appeal

The Moscow Appeals Court rejected the appeal by the jailed opposition politician Alexei Navalny against conviction on extremism charges that added 19 more years to his current jail term. One of President Putin's most vocal critics, Navalny had dismissed accusations as groundless and designed to silence his criticism of the brutal regime. Since Navalny's arrest and imprisonment 2021 after a failed poisoning, which he blamed on the Kremlin, his political movement has been declared "extremist" and, in effect, eliminated.
