Wildfires burn in Canada amid country's worst season on record

Canadians are rushing to evacuate the Northwest Territories as hundreds of wildfires rip across the region.


The country's in the throes of its worst fire season on record, with 1,000s of blazes still burning nationwide.

Nigeria to Benefit from UK’s £210 Million Funding to Tackle Antimicrobial Resistance

The United Kingdom has announced a funding plan of up to £210 million for the building of state-of-the-art laboratories, cutting-edge disease surveillance systems and a bigger global workforce to tackle deadly antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Nigeria and countries in Africa and Asia.


It says the funding would support the Fleming Fund's activities to tackle AMR in those countries over the next three years, helping to reduce the threat it poses to the UK and globally.

Thousands evacuated on Tenerife as wildfires scorch Spanish island


Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes on Tenerife, as wildfires scorch across the Spanish island.

Local authorities say more than 2500 hectares have gone up in smoke so far.

British Museum Curator Sacked After Artefacts Disappeared Named

The British Museum staff member allegedly sacked after the disappearance of a number of artifacts has been named as a senior curator who worked at the Museum for almost 30 years.

DRONE STRIKE IN MOSCOW CLOSES ALL FOUR AIRPORTS

Flights into all four of Moscow's airports were suspended on Friday after another drone attack.

The Mayor of the Russian capital says there were no casualties, but debris from the drone fell on an expocentre in the middle of the city after it was intercepted by air defense systems.

Death toll in India's Himachal Pradesh rises amid monsoon rain disasters

The death toll due to landslides and flash floods caused by torrential monsoon rains in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh in the past few days has reached more than 70.

More than 60 feared dead after migrant boat rescue near Cape Verde


38 migrants have been rescued after their boat was spotted near Cape Verde off the coast of west Africa.

The vessel set off from Senegal carrying 101 people, meaning more than 60 are believed to have died while it drifted out at sea.
