Power cuts and disruptions remain as Khanun passes Okinawa

Japan’s southern region of Okinawa is reeling after a powerful typhoon felled trees, toppled houses, and cut power to hundreds of thousands of homes on Wednesday. 

The effects of Typhoon Khanun (ka-noon) are still being felt as the storm slowly heads north-west towards China’s eastern coast.

Stocks reel from Fitch downgrade

Stocks on Wall Street slumped Wednesday as traders reacted to the
downgrade of the U.S. credit rating.

Fitch on Tuesday lowered the rating from AAA to AA+ citing an expected
fiscal deterioration over the next three years.
