India's Supreme Court has started day-to-day hearing on petitions challenging the federal government's decision to repeal Jammu and Kashmir's special status and imposing direct rule.
This decision - taken in 2019 - was followed by mass detention of politicians and activists, a ban on internet services for months as well as sporadic protests in Indian administered Kashmir.
Now the country's apex court will decide whether the move was constitutionally valid.
Shalu Yadav reports from Delhi.
