UN pleads with Russia to return to Grain Deal

The United Nations humanitarian chief, Martin Griffiths has appealed
to Russia to return to the Black Sea Grain deal.
Speaking at the Security Council on Friday, Griffiths together with
his colleague for Peacebuilding Affair, Rosemary DiCarlo stressed the
importance of the deal that has since put the lives of millions in
danger of hunger.
Earlier this week, Russia withdrew from the deal which allowed for the
safe passage of food through the Black Sea despite the war.

Trial date set in Trump documents case

A federal judge has set a trial date for the classified documents case against Donald Trump.


On Friday, US District Judge Aileen Cannon announced a two-week trial period would begin on May 20 next year.


The former President of the United States faces 37 counts surrounding allegations that he willfully retained national defence information.


Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Tony Bennett dies aged 96 -- obituary

The legendary pop and jazz star Tony Bennett has died at the age of 96. 


The iconic American singer had a career spanning 70 years, performing with artists as diverse as Frank Sinatra, Paul McCartney and Lady Gaga.

Georgia officials plan Trop-related racketeering charges

Prosecutors in the U.S. state of Georgia are reportedly preparing
racketeering charges in connection to Donald Trump's attempts to
overturn the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

The Guardian newspaper reports that there could be an indictment next month.

AMNESTY CONDEMNS THE USE OF FORCE

Amnesty International Kenya says it condemns the continued use of force against protestors. Rescue Efforts Resume for Indian Landslide Victims

Athletics Integrity Unit suspends Nigerian 100 meters world record holder, Tobi Amusan

The Athletics Integrity Unit, AIU has suspended top Nigerian athlete, Tobi Amusan for violating anti doping rules.

AIU is responsible for overseeing anti-doping measures in global athletics.

The AIU says she missed three drug tests within a 12 month period.

UK Conservatives Lose 2 of 3 By-elections

The UKs ruling Conservative Party have lost 2 of 3 by elections that took place in England. 


Critics say it shows how unpopular the Government and their policies are. The next general election is expected to be held next year, with the Conservatives a long way behind in the polls. 


They did narrowly manage to retain the seat vacated by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson - it's thought a controversial local issue about emission zones introduced by the Labour Mayor of London was the reason they managed to hold on.


Meanwhile in Somerset and North Yorkshire, the Conservatives lost seats that previously had huge majorities of around 20 thousand.

Henry Kissinger meets Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing

Henry Kissinger, the one-hundred-year-old former American diplomat, has upstaged the US climate envoy John Kerry by meeting the Chinese president Xi Jinping on a private trip to Beijing. 


Mr Kerry shook hands with China's premier and Vice-President this week on his four-day visit to restart talks on fighting global warming. But he didn't sit down with President Xi, who told Mr Kissinger that he'll never forget "old friends" like him.

Italian government says it's unlocked more than $20 billion in EU recovery funds

Alabama to resume executions after botched lethal injections

The US state of Alabama is set to resume executions, after they were paused due to a string of botched lethal injection attempts.


Prisoner James Barber is due to be put to death on Thursday… he was convicted of robbing and killing a 75-year-old woman in 2001.
