UK TO REVEAL NEW MIGRANT LAWS

The UK government's set to announce a plan to ban migrants who cross the English Channel in small boats from applying for British citizenship.

New legislation would ban anyone arriving in that way from future re-entry to the UK, remove them from the country, and render them unable to apply for British citizenship.

Ministers say the law has to be tightened but critics say the plans are unworkable and raise human rights issues.

Enver Solomon from the Refugee Council says he doesn't support the proposals.

Fire in Bangladesh's Rohingya camp leaves thousands homeless

S Korea and Japan on brink of resolving historical disputes

Voting rights still under threat says Biden on Selma Anniversary

US President Joe Biden has said voting rights in America are still being threatened, during a speech commemorating the 58th Anniversary of "bloody Sunday" in Selma, Alabama.

In 1965 600 civil rights activists marching from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama to end voting discrimination, were attacked by police.

This led to the signing of the landmark voting rights act of 1965.

US and German leaders hold talks on Ukraine in Washington DC

Life in prison for father Alex Murdaugh for killing his wife and son

In a case that gripped the U.S., former attorney Alex Murdaugh has been sentenced to life in prison by a judge in South Carolina for double murder.

Skyscraper goes up in flames in downtown Hong Kong

More than a hundred people have been evacuated in central Hong Kong as a huge fire ripped through a skyscraper construction site in the middle of the night.

Firefighters battled the blaze for nine hours before bringing the flames under control.
