Balance of power in U.S. Congress still being decided following midterms

U.S. midterm elections results are showing a better than expected outcome for the Democratic party, who were tipped to lose the House, and possibly the Senate.

President Biden said it was a relief, and a show of success for democracy.

Counting continues for Senate seats for Arizona and Nevada, while Georgia will have a run off on December 6th.

Bitcoin hits two-year low, as Binance deal to buy FTX collapses

A rare November hurricane hits Florida

A rare November hurricane is lashing Florida, just weeks after Hurricane Ian devastated parts of the state.

Hurricane Nicole made landfall along the east coast in the early hours of Thursday morning as a category one storm, with winds of 75 miles per hour.

It has since been downgraded to a tropical storm as it makes its way across the state.

Inflation cools more than expected in October

UK retail boss demands action on post-Brexit labour shortages

Biden says US can breathe "sigh of relief" after midterms

President Biden says US Democrats are breathing a "sigh of relief" after not suffering massive losses in America's mid-term elections.


But the race for the House of Representatives and the Senate remain evenly poised, despite the Republicans failure to mobilize the tidal wave of voter support they were promising.

Biden: Midterms were “good day for democracy”

US President Joe Biden has said the Midterm elections were a "good day
for democracy".

He was speaking after the results proved to be far less damaging for
the Democratic party than had been expected.

He said there was still a "possibility" the Democrats could hang onto
the House - but admitted it was going to be "very close".

Democrats managed to prevent the predicted Republican red wave,
holding onto a number of key seats, including some that seemed
particularly vulnerable to being flipped by the Republicans.
