Leaders call for action to address global education

The United Nations is calling on nations around the world to take
bolder action on education.

The majority of countries have slashed funding for learning since the
start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

But UN officials hope a three day summit can reverse that trend.

Still no electricity in parts of Puerto Rico

Many parts of Puerto Rico remain without power even as Hurricane Fiona moves to the Dominican Republic.

Seven Million Nigerians Sue Country's Electoral Commission Over Failure to Allow Them Complete Voter Registration

Twenty four Nigerians are challenging the country's electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for failing to allow them complete their voter registration exercise to enable them to vote.

They have filed a lawsuit which they say also covers seven million other citizens with the same complaint.

Intending voters in the country are expected to visit designated registration centres physically for their biometrics to be captured after registering online.

EU executive seeks new powers to crisis-proof supply chains

Businesses and manufacturers in the European Union could be forced to stockpile or prioritize production of certain goods under emergency preparedness plans unveiled on Monday.
