A US House of Representatives committee has announced it'll meet next week to discuss banning assault weapons.
The bill would forbid "the sale, import, manufacture or transfer" of certain semi-automatic rifles.
The move comes in the wake of a series of mass shootings, including the worst school massacre in almost a decade in Uvalde, Texas, and a deadly attack during an Independence Day parade earlier this month in Illinois.

A court of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, has also warned against a repeat of the suspension.
