Incumbent party declares win in Russian parliamentary elections

Russia's governing party has maintained a constitutional majority in parliament, after three days of voting.

That means the United Russia party, supported by President Vladimir Putin, will be able to unilaterally pass any legislation.

But the election has been mired in accusations of vote-rigging and election fraud.

Gunman arrested after killing 8 in Perm, Russia

A gunman has been detained by police in the Russian city of Perm, after killing 8 and injuring 28 at the city's university.

Others were injured jumping out of first-floor windows to avoid the gunfire, and students have reported barricading themselves in classrooms.

Remains found "consistent" with description of missing woman Gabby Petito

Authorities say they've discovered a body that appears to be "consistent" with the description of a missing 22 year old woman from Florida.

Biden and Macron to have phone call following submarine row

US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanual Macron are due to speak over the phone in the coming days following a diplomatic row over a new defence pact between the US UK and Australia.

French spokesperson Gabriel Attal said Mr Biden had initiated the call.

The new trilateral arrangement will allow Australia to acquire nuclear-powered submarines using British and American technology but it resulted in France losing a multi billion dollar submarine contract with Australia.

US fresh sanction on Ethiopia

US federal advisers decline to approve COVID-19 booster shots

UN says Earth on "Catastrophic" Path
