Australia - Fines promised as areas of Sydney go into lockdown

With the covid cluster in Australia's biggest city Sydney continuing to grow, police say large fines will be given to anyone attempting to leave restricted areas.


The case numbers linked to the Bondi delta variant cluster, which has been spreading across Sydney for a week, now stands at 65.

Afghan leaders meet Biden as US withdraws troops and Taliban attacks surge

The surging violence in Afghanistan is expected to be the main topic of conversation, when U.S. President Joe Biden meets his Afghan counterpart on Friday.


President Ashraf Ghani will be accompanied at the White House by the chairman of Afghanistan's High Council for National Reconciliation, Abdullah Abdullah .


They will discuss the withdrawal of US troops, amid an increase in fighting between Afghan forces and the Taliban.

Some 751 remains found on the site of former boarding school in Canada
