US President Joe Biden has called the closure of Hong Kong's pro-democracy newspaper Apple Daily — quote — "a sad day for media freedom in Hong Kong and around the world."
The popular 26-year-old tabloid was forced to shut down Thursday under what the American president say was pressure from Beijing to suppress the media and silence dissent.
