MOSCOW EXTENDS RESTRICTIONS BUT WILL OPEN SCHOOLS

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin is extending Covid-19 restrictions for a further week, while epidemiologists make a judgement about the trend of infection.

The rules place restrictions on businesses and events, and were originally meant to be relaxed at the end of the week.

But the Mayor says the picture is unclear, after New Year holidays broke many chains of infection but have not made a difference to the number of people in hospital.

UK PHARMACIES JOIN VACCINE ROLL-OUT

Boris Johnson pays tribute to those involved with UK vaccine roll out

The UK has recorded a record number of daily deaths from Coronavirus.

1,564 people died within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test.

Before the figures were released, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson claimed that the national lockdown is starting to have an impact.
