India's Covid-19 infections cross 8 million

INTRO:

India's total number of confirmed coronavirus cases has crossed 8 million infections.

Data from the country's health ministry on Thursday showed that India recorded 49,881 new cases in 24 hours. 517 deaths were reported, taking the death toll to more than 120,000.

India remains the second worst affected country in terms of the number of infections after the US.

Teenage activist charged for secession in Hong Kong

The 19-year-old former leader of a pro-independence group in Hong Kong has appeared in court, facing charges of secession under the city's national security law. 

Tony Chung was arrested on Tuesday next to the city's US embassy, where he is said to have been planning to seek asylum.

London Heathrow no longer Europe's busiest airport

Paris's Charles de Gaulle has overtaken Heathrow as Europe's busiest airport, following a collapse in passenger numbers at the UK's hub.
