GERMANY AGREES ON $146 BILLION STIMULUS PLAN

Germany's governing coalition has agreed to a $146 billion stimulus package, intended to soften the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic.


The plan is the second major financial stimulus from Europe's largest economy in the past three months.

Germany and China to postpone EU-China Leipzig summit

The leaders China and Germany have agreed that a high-profile EU-China summit planned for September should be postponed.

Germany's Angela Merkel and China's President Xi Jinping spoke over the phone on Wednesday.

UK HOSTS INTERNATIONAL VACCINE SUMMIT

The UK is hosting a global vaccine summit (Thursday) - aiming to raise $7.4 billion to immunise 300 million more children against a series of diseases.

Over 50 countries will join the virtual summit which will also aim to ensure that if a vaccine for Covid-19 is found it will be made available worldwide.

The UK alone has pledged $2bn to the GAVI vaccine alliance ahead of the summit.

But the country's Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty says the search for a covid19 vaccine is unlikely to yield results this year.

AUSTRALIA: Qantas prepares to increase domestic flights

Australia's signature airline Qantas is getting ready to lift domestic flight numbers to around 40% of pre-pandemic levels by August.

CHINA WANTS "GREATER SINCERITY" FROM HSBC


Chinese media have warned British banking giant HSBC it needs to show greater sincerity to win back the Chinese market.

The bank's top Asia Executive, Peter Wong, backed a planned new national security law, saying it would bring long-term stability and prosperity to Hong Kong.

New Charges Against Officers in Death of George Floyd

After more than a week of protests, the four former police officers involved in the death of an African American man in Minneapolis all face charges. The Minnesota Attorney General's office is upgrading the charges against one former police officer involved in the death of George Floyd…and bringing new charges against three others.

Fuel Prices Drop to a Record Low in Tanzania

Belgium to enter a 'new normal' as it loosens lockdown from June 8th

Calmer streets in NYC on second night of curfew

200 hundred people were arrested in New York City on Tuesday night
after protestors ignored a curfew to demonstrate against the death of
George Floyd.
