BORIS JOHNSON BACK AT WORK

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is back at work after a period recuperating following treatment in intensive care for coronavirus.

Downing Street says he did not carry out official government work while away from Number 10.

But as the Prime Minister returns to full-time duties, he's facing growing calls from some of his own MPs to signal how the UK will ease its lockdown.

Japan likely to extend state of emergency

Social distancing in US to continue through summer says Dr Birx

EU Chief negotiator lambasts UK following second round of Brexit talks

The EU's chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier has criticised the UK for failing to seriously engage with the post-Brexit trade negotiations and refusing to extend the transition period.

Special TV show helps raise millions for charity in UK

Half of Europe's COVID-19 deaths have occurred in care homes

UK TESTING CAPACITY RAMPS UP

The UK is ramping up its coronavirus testing so that from today (Friday) millions of key workers can be tested if they have symptoms.

It's part of the Health Secretary Matt Hancock's attempts to hit 100 000 tests a day by the end of the month.

The British government has been criticised for its slow start compared to some other countries in terms of testing.
