The UK government has said it is still too soon to lift the lockdown. 

It comes as Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to spend a fourth night in intensive care being treated for covid-19.

Renewed hope in Spain as European countries plan exit strategy

Spain has reported a drop in its death toll, which has renewed hopes that the epidemic is levelling off. 

Italy has also seen its daily death toll fall after putting in place a country-wide lockdown in early March. 

France is expected to extend its lockdown, with President Macron due to give a televised address on Monday.

Federal Reserve to roll out $2.3 trillion in loans to boost U.S. economy

Football players in England launch initiative to help NHS

Premier League footballers in England have launched an initiative to generate and distribute funds to the country's national health service, known as the NHS.

 

It comes as the UK's Health Secretary Matt Hancock encouraged players to take a pay cut.

Sailors Making Masks from T-shirts

Sailors on board the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt are reportedly disinfecting it with minimal protective equipment.

According to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle, multiple family members of the sailors onboard say face masks have not been widely distributed.

EU's top science advisor resigns citing disappointment with COVID-19 response

The EU's top scientist has resigned from its flagship science funding body, criticising the European response to COVID-19.
