EU's top science advisor resigns citing disappointment with COVID-19 response

The EU's top scientist has resigned from its flagship science funding body, criticising the European response to COVID-19.

Professor Mauro Ferrari announced his resignation on Tuesday from the European Research Council, citing his failure to set up a programme to fight the coronavirus.

But the ERC has issued a statement saying his resignation followed a unanimous vote of no confidence.
