UK LAWMAKERS DEMAND PARLIAMENT'S RETURN

Opposition MPs in the UK are urging Parliamen's recall to discuss Brexit preparations.

It comes after the government published documents on worst case scenarios if there is a 'No Deal' Brexit on October 31st.

They warn of possible food shortages, unrest, and delays at ports.

The government insists No Deal planning has been ramped up since the documents were compiled.

But Parliament is currently suspended until October 14th - a move which is the subject of several legal challenges.

Labour Shadow Transport Secretary Andy McDonald says Brexit should be being scrutinised in the House of Commons.

India-China hold talks to de-escalate border stand-off

Indian and Chinese troops were involved in a stand-off earlier this week over patrolling along a shared border. Defence ministry officials in New Delhi say delegation level talks were held to de-escalate the situation.

The two nations share a 3000 kilometre long border. Disagreements remain unresolved in several areas and the neighbours even fought a war over a border dispute in 1962.

Trump Delays October 1st Celebration Spoiler Tariffs

Trade talks between Washington and Beijing took a positive turn after both sides made concession to deescalate tensions.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday delayed a planned tariff hike on $250 billion worth of Chinese goods due to kick in on October 1st.

The move came after China exempt some US goods from its tariffs.

UN calls for more assistance for Ethiopia

Intro 

The United Nations is calling for more Iinternational funding and support for Ethiopia's response to its high number of displaced people.

More than eight million people in Ethiopia need food, shelter, medicine or other emergency assistance.

The WHO Warns of Shortfall to Funding Contain Ebola Outbreak

The World Health Organisation is warning of a shortfall in funding for operations to contain the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The WHO says the money they currently have will only take them until the end of September.

Merkel urges respect for human rights in Hong Kong

German chancellor Angela Merkel has urged China to respect human rights in the city of Hong Kong which has been rocked by protests for several months.

Spike in migrants trying to cross English Channel blamed on Brexit deadline

French NGOs are blaming a spike in migrants crossing the English Channel in dinghies on Brexit - saying smugglers are misleading desperate people into believing the crossing will become harder after the October 31 deadline.

86 people were intercepted by the UK Border Force on Tuesday, thought to be the highest number in a single day.
