Indian and Chinese troops were involved in a stand-off earlier this week over patrolling along a shared border. Defence ministry officials in New Delhi say delegation level talks were held to de-escalate the situation.
The two nations share a 3000 kilometre long border. Disagreements remain unresolved in several areas and the neighbours even fought a war over a border dispute in 1962.
