UN designates leader of Jaish-e-Mohammed a terrorist

The United Nations has designated the leader of a group behind a
deadly attack in Kashmir this year as a terrorist.

China has previously blocked a committee from imposing sanctions on
Masood Azhar who leads the militant group Jaish-e-Mohammad.

Trump Seeks Billions in Emergency Border Funds

The White House is asking the US Congress to allocate 4.5 billion dollars in emergency funding for the border between the US and Mexico. 

The White House says  the funds are necessary to cope with the influx of asylum seekers coming to the United States.

ASSANGE JAILED

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been jailed for 50 weeks.

A judge in London handed him the sentence for breaching bail conditions in 2012 when he fled into the Ecuadorian Embassy.

The 47 year-old also faces court proceedings in London this week over a request for his extradition by the United States, over federal conspiracy charges.

In 2012, Mr Assange was facing sexual assault allegations in Sweden which he always denied.

LANDMARK SPORT VERDICT

The South African runner Caster Semenya has lost an appeal against The International Association of Athletics Federations rules designed to limit naturally high testosterone levels in some female runners.


The Court of Arbitration for Sport in the Swiss city of Lausanne made the announcement on Wednesday.


It's being called a landmark decision for the future of athletics.

Ebola Crisis

Last week  Malawi became the first country to do so.

MADURO CLAIMS COUP PUT DOWN

Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro claims he's put down what he says was a military coup.

President Maduro's used a tv address to claim opposition leader Juan Guaido had failed to turn the armed forces against him.

But Mr Guaido says the President is losing control of the military and that a transition must now take place.

Both men have continued to call for their supporters to take to the streets - after clashes on Tuesday.

Mueller objects to US Attorney General's conclusions on Russia investigation


Robert Muller, the Special Counsel in charge of the Russia investigation has written to the US Attorney General, William Barr, objecting to the way he characterised the report.

The Washington Post reports that Mueller said that Barr did not "fully capture the context, nature, and substance" of the investigation or its conclusions.

Barr is due to give testimony to US lawmakers for the first time since the publication of the Mueller report on Wednesday.

A former policeman in the US state of Minnesota has been found guilty of murdering an unarmed Australian woman.

Revealed: Mueller objected to Barr précis of Special Prosecutor's investigation

It's been revealed that Robert Mueller, the Special Prosecutor who investigated ties between the Trump campaign and the Russians, wrote to President Trump's Attorney General complaining about his claim that investigators had exonerated the President.


The revelation is leading to calls for William Barr's resignation, with Democrats saying they may move to impeach him.
