Weedkiller manufacturer ordered to pay $80 million to man diagnosed with cancer

A California jury has ordered Bayer-Monsanto to pay 80 million dollars to a 70-year old man diagnosed with cancer.

The jury had determined that the man's exposure to Monsanto's weed killer "Roundup" was a significant factor in the development of his cancer.

Monsanto said they were disappointed by the verdict, as US correspondent Kate Fisher reports.

Boeing unveils safety measures for plane that crashed twice while US aviation officials defend oversight

The US Federal Aviation Administration and aerospace company Boeing have defended their oversight of the 737 Max aircraft, which has been involved in two crashes.

It came after Prime Minister Theresa May promised her own MPs she'd stand aside if her Brexit deal passed the Commons.

UK PM CONTINUES TO PUSH FOR HER BREXIT DEAL

British MPs will vote today on what their preferred Brexit outcome is.


The move is an attempt to break the impasse over Brexit, with the Prime Minster's deal having been voted down twice already and the deadline for Brexit, which was due to take place at the end of the week, having been extended.


There are suggestions that the Prime Minister could offer to resign, in exchange for backbench MPs backing her deal.

As charges dropped, actor Jussie Smollett insists he has been "truthful from day one".

All the charges against an American actor accused of orchestrating a racist and homophobic attack on himself have been dropped by the authortities in Chicago.


Juissie Smollett, star of the drama "Empire", had been accused of lying to police about the attack.

Purdue Pharma settle opioid lawsuit

The maker of the prescription opioid Oxycontin has settled a lawsuit
in the United States for nearly $275 million.

Purdue Pharma who are owned by the billionaire Sackler family are
accused of contributing to the opioid crisis.
