Indian court reviews law that makes homosexuality illegal

India's top court is reexamining a British-era law that makes homosexuality a crime.

Section 377 of the Indian constitution deems that anyone who has intercourse 'against the order of nature' shall be punished with imprisonment for life or upto 10 years in jail.

Weinstein denies third criminal case charges

Indian court upholds death penalty for 2012 Delhi gang rape convicts

India's top court has dismissed a review petition filed by three of the four convicts in the 2012 Delhi gang rape case.

The case dates back to six years ago when a 23-year-old medical student was brutally gang-raped and repeatedly assaulted on a moving bus and then abandoned on the roadside.

The case had sparked off wide-spread protests across the country and was instrumental in bringing about sweeping changes in rape laws in India.

Indian Minister fetes eight lynching convicts

A junior minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government has earned flak after he was seen honouring eight men who were convicted for lynching a cattle trader in 2017.

A mob of more than 100 cow vigilantes had hacked the cattle trader to death in the Indian state of Jharkhand on the suspicion that he was carrying beef in his car. A majority of Hindus consider the cow to be a holy animal and cow slaughter is banned in many Indian states.

California wildfires: Governor declares state of emergency

Job Growth Continues in the United States
