LONDON POLICE TO TREAT VIOLENT VIDEO UPLOADERS 'LIKE TERRORISTS'

London police say they plan to treat people who post videos on social media inciting violence, in the same way as terror suspects.

It follows a spike in gun and knife crime in London, and growing concern about so-called 'drill videos' online which involve gangs and threatening lyrics.

GRENFELL RESPONSE 'BADLY FLAWED'

The response to the Grenfell Tower disaster in London was 'badly flawed', according to a new report.

The local authority, Kensington and Chelsea council, displayed 'weak leadership' and left volunteers 'on the front line', according to the review.

The fire at Grenfell Tower killed 72 people on June 14th last year.

A public inquiry into the disaster is underway but Muslim Aid, which commissioned the new report - says a similar tragedy could happen again.

Russian journalist shot dead in Kiev

Russia has demanded a quick investigation by the Ukrainian authorities into the murder of Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko. He died in an ambulance after being shot near his home in Kiev. Jessica King reports from Moscow.

4,600 killed in Puerto Rico by Hurricane Maria

A study conducted by Harvard University estimates that over 4,600
people in Puerto Rico were killed by Hurricane Maria.

That's 70 times more than the official death toll which put the number
of fatalities due to last year's hurricane at 64.

ABC cancels ‘Roseanne’ after racist Tweet

The US television network ABC has cancelled its hit reboot of the popular sitcom 'Roseanne,' after its star actress published a controversial Tweet.

Comedian Roseanne Barr is no stranger to controversy - she had drawn widespread criticism for her support of President Trump.

White House announces new tariffs on China, in major reversal

The White House said it's moving ahead with a new round of tariffs on Chinese goods, and new limits on Chinese investments in US tech industries.

Starbucks to close 8,000 US stores

Starbucks is closing more than eight thousand of its US stores on Tuesday for what the company calls sensitivity training.

Liege attack update

Terrorist investigators are looking into an attack in the Belgian city of Liege in which 3 people have been killed.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack and the country's national crisis centre says it will not yet be raising the terrorist alert level.

Tamil Nadu government orders closure of copper plant after violent protests

The government in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu has ordered the closure of a major copper plant after 13 people were killed in recent protests.

US warns India about its defence deals with Russia

The United States has indicated that it may not sell India military equipment if New Delhi were to go ahead and purchase ballistic missiles worth $5.5 billion from Moscow.

Moscow denies reports on interception of Israeli fighter jet

Thousands evacuate as Storm Alberto hits U.S.
