Tamil Nadu government orders closure of copper plant after violent protests

The government in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu has ordered the closure of a major copper plant after 13 people were killed in recent protests. 

Residents in the port town of Tuticorin have been complaining that the plant belonging to a subsidiary of mining giant Vedanta is harmful to their health and the environment.
