Ethiopia to swear in new prime minister

Ethiopia's ruling party,  the Ethiopia Peoples Democratic Front has elected a new chairperson who is expected to be the country's next prime minister as from the second of April.


Dr. Abiy Ahmed is a member of parliament who is viewed by many as a reformist.

May talks up Brexit benefits on UK tour


British Prime Minister Theresa May says there are  "real opportunities" for the UK outside the European Union.   She made the remarks as she toured the  country to mark the one-year count-down to Brexit, when the UK is due to leave the European Union. 


Starting her tour in Scotland, the Prime Minister told workers in a textile factory that Brexit could bring future benefits. The British leader is also making stops in England, Northern Ireland and Wales.   Speaking with reporters, Mrs May said Brexit would also mean more money for schools and the National Health service. 

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair has used the day to say that it is not too late to stop Brexit and that a final decision should be taken once the terms of the exit deal with the EU are known. 

Speaking in Scotland the British leader said she was confident that Brexit would  bring about benefits.

PM May says Brexit means more money for NHS and schools 1 year ahead of brexit day

Brexit will result in more money for the Britain's National Health System and its schools according to UK prime minister Theresa May.

Mrs May is touring the four countries which make up the United Kingdom exactly one year to the day ahead of Britian's exit from the European Union.

10 killed in DR Congo Attack

Indian government to divest national carrier

The Indian government plans to sell a controlling 76% stake in India's national carrier- Air India. The 85-year-old airline has been surviving on taxpayer funded bailouts for nearly a decade now.

POLICE FOCUS ON SKRIPAL FRONT DOOR

Police say investigations into how a former Russian spy and his daughter were poisoned with a nerve agent are now focused on their home.

It's now thought they first came into contact with the substance via Sergei Skripal's front door in the city of Salisbury earlier this month.

The incident has led to a diplomatic row with Russia, which denies any involvement.

Judge allows lawsuit challenging Trump business ownership

A US judge is allowing a lawsuit to move forward that accuses President Trump of violating the Constitution by maintaining ownership of his businesses.

The Justice Department had requested the suit be thrown out.

The lawsuit says that by not cutting ties with his business, Trump is violating the "emoluments" clause that prevents officials from accepting gifts from foreign governments.

Stormy Daniels files motion for Trump to testify

The adult film star Stormy Daniels, who alleges that Donald Trump had an extramarital affair with her in 2006, has filed a court motion for Trump to testify.

Daniels says he signed a non-disclosure agreement and accepted "hush money" from Trump's personal attorney just weeks before the 2016 election.

Poisoned Spy's front door found to have high concentration of nerve agent


British police say the former Russian spy and his daughter who were poisoned by a nerve agent in Salisbury at the beginning of the month, first came into contact with the substance at their home.


Counter-terrorism police say the highest concentration of the nerve agent was found at the front door of Sergei Skripal's house.  He and his daughter Yulia were found unconscious on a bench in the city.    From London, Catherine Drew reports.
