Judge allows lawsuit challenging Trump business ownership

A US judge is allowing a lawsuit to move forward that accuses President Trump of violating the Constitution by maintaining ownership of his businesses.

The Justice Department had requested the suit be thrown out.

The lawsuit says that by not cutting ties with his business, Trump is violating the "emoluments" clause that prevents officials from accepting gifts from foreign governments.

The dispute centers on the use of Trump International Hotel in Washington by foreign dignitaries.

US correspondent Steve Mort says it could be an important test for the president.
