Investigators in Las Vegas say the gunman who carried the deadliest
mass shooting in modern U.S. history was living a secret life that is
still not understood.
A motive has not been found for why Stephen Paddock opened fire on a
crowd of festival goers from his nearby hotel suite killing 58 people
before taking his own life.
His girlfriend Marilou Danley has been questioned by law enforcement
and describes Paddock as a kind, caring and quiet partner.
Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo has confirmed that Paddock had
rented a room at a different hotel just days before the attack. The
reason isn't clear but it coincided with another music festival that
was taking place at the time.

Some 47 guns have been recovered from the Mandalay Bay hotel suite and
two of Paddock's homes. Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo says these
were likely acquired over a long period of time.
