Bidding closes for Air Berlin offers

Interested buyers have a Friday deadline to submit bids for Air Berlin, Germany's second-largest carrier which has filed for bankruptcy.

It's been a dramatic process so far, with pilots staging an impromptu walkout and allegations of an unfair playing field from other airlines.

Group of farmers protest against India's new bullet train project

Farmers have staged a protest against India's new bullet train project.

The 17 billion US dollar high speed train project was launched this week during Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe's visit to Gujarat.

North Korea 'launch missile over Japan'

North Korea has fired a missile over Japan, according to the Japanese and South Korean governments.

The missile travelled more than 3,500 km South Korea's military said.

US President Donald Trump has been briefed on the launch.

North Korea Reportedly Fires Missile over Japan

North Korea has reportedly fired a missile eastwards from Pyongyang towards Japan, where residents were warned to take shelter. 
The missile launch comes just days after the United Nations imposed  new sanctions on North Korea because of its weapons testing.

Google Sued for Gender Discrimination

Three former employees of Google have filed a lawsuit against the company of discriminating against women in pay and promotions. 

This is just the latest in a series of accusations of gender discrimination leveled at major tech companies.

Political confusion over immigration deal

Political confusion reigns in Washington over whether U.S. President Donald Trump forged a deal with Democrats on a certain group of migrants.

DACA stands for deferred action for childhood arrivals, and their "dream" is to have their citizenship & immgration status made official.

The American president has definitely angered supporters and contradicted himself in a series of spoken statements and posts on social media.

US condemns Iraq terror attacks

The death toll rose past 50 in a pair of suicide bomb attacks in southern Iraq, with 85 reported injured.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks on a restaurant, where Iranian pilgrims were eating.

They claimed the "rejectionist idolaters" had to die.

From Washington, U.S. State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert condemned the attack in the strongest of terms.

Venezuela's President Describes Rabbit Plan to Solve Food Shortages

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has devised what he's calling a rabbit plan to help combat serious shortages of food and high levels of malnutrition in the South American country.


Maduro blames the shortages on an economic war he says is being waged against his government by "imperialist forces."

US previews priorities for UN General Assembly

The Trump administration is laying out its initial priorities for the upcoming United Nations' General Assembly meetings with the heads of state and government set to arrive in New York (speeches starting Tuesday morning September 19)

Don't go fight for Islamic State - US State Department

The U.S. State Department has confirmed they are aware an American may have been fighting in Syria for the Islamic State and has been captured or surrendered to Kurdish forces.

The U.S. military says that any fighter for the Islamic State will be "transported humanely" to their home country, as reported by the Daily Beast.

US responds cautiously after Russia yanks parking spaces

The U.S. State Department is reacting cautiously after the Russian officials removed special parking spaces for American diplomats in St. Petersburg, Moscow and other Russian cities.

Washington and Moscow have been in a tit-for-tat over Russian interference in the American elections, with the U.S. expelling diplomats and the Russians cancelling visas and work permits.

Republicans say discussions, no DACA deal

Republican leaders in the U.S. Congress are now saying there were only discussions on what to do about DACA, but no deal was crafted between U.S. President Donald Trump and the Democratic leadership.

Before leaving for Florida, U.S. President Donald Trump said Speaker Ryan and Seate Majority Leader McConnell were on board, but after phone calls during the flight, he changed his tune and said there would only be a deal if construction of a wall was included.

DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and is a program intended to provide work and study permits for young people who were brought to the US without proper immigration papers.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan repeated what his position on how America's immigration issues need to be handled.

Lattice Semiconductors Confirms Chinese Deal is Off

The US chip maker Lattice Semiconductors has confirmed that a $1.3bn deal to be bought by a Chinese investment fund has been abandoned.
