Trump and Sisi Talk After US Suspends & Withdraws Aid

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has spoken with President Donald Trump, saying they were keen to "overcome any obstacles in the way of cooperation". 

The call came shortly after a US decision to withhold or withdraw financial aid because of concerns about human rights.

UN calls for investigation into Yemen hotel air strike

The United Nations human rights office has called for an independent
investigation to look into an air strike that killed over 30 people in
Yemen.

Medics and aid groups on the ground in the capital Sanaa say the
Saudi-led coalition is responsible for the strike that hit a hotel.

UK to test drive driverless lorries

A trial of driverless lorries is set to take place on British roads by the end of 2018 according to the UK Government.


The lorries will travel in formation with the vehicle in front controlling acceleration and breaking.

Indian godman convicted of rape, supporters go on a rampage

A self-styled god man in India has been found guilty of raping two women 15 years ago. Hundreds of thousands of his followers who were camped outside the court awaiting the verdict have since gone on a rampage.

Officials have confirmed that 17 people have died.

Self-driving lorries to be trialled on British roads

The British government has announced plans to trial "self-driving" lorries on roads in the UK.

The test runs are expected to be launched on major roads before the end of next year, but some opponents have raised safety concerns.

Top South Korean, Russian diplomats to discuss tensions on Korean peninsula

China issues alert to its citizens in India

Amid the ongoing border stand-off with India, China has asked its citizens in India to be on high alert till the end of this year.

This is the second advisory issued by the Chinese government in two months- indicating there could be a threat to the personal security of Chinese citizens in India.

US Defense Secretary Mattis pledges support for Ukraine, with plans for lethal aid

White House calls on Congress to free funds to build wall with Mexico

American President Donald Trump is determined to build a wall with Mexico, putting more pressure on the US Congress to release funds to pay for it.

Mr Trump has threatened a government shutdown unless funds are made available to pay for the wall.

White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders resisted answering questions from reporters over why taxpayers would have to foot the bill when Mr Trump had repeatedly promised that Mexico would pay for it.

But she said the president was determined to see it built, even calling on Democrats to support it.

White House hits back at Republican Senator who questioned Trump's mental stability

The White House is hitting back at a Republican Senator who has questioned whether Donald Trump is sufficiently stable to remain in the US Presidency.

Rift continues between President Trump and Senate Republican leader

The White House has denied reports of intense animosity between President Trump and Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell.

There are reports that the two have not spoken for weeks after an angry phone call between them over policy differences.

President Trump sent out another tweet on Thursday criticising Mr McConnell for the failure to repeal Obamacare, and Mr McConnell said in a speech that he had some concerns about rhetoric over trade coming from the White House. 

But just hours later, Presidential spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders said everything was fine between the leaders.

US Navy suspends part of search efforts off Singapore, identifies missing sailors

The US Navy has suspended search and rescue efforts for missing sailors of the USS John S MCain in areas east of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore.


The search and recovery efforts will continue inside flooded compartments of the guided-missile destroyer, damaged after its collision Monday with a merchant vessel off the Singapore coast.
