May apologizes for poor Grenfell tragedy response
British Prime Minister Theresa May has apologized for the lack of a coordinated official response following the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy, in which at least 79 people died.
During the first debate in parliament following the State Opening, Theresa May said the response from both the national and local government had not been good enough in the hours after the tragedy, when London residents who had fled the fire were left with nothing and nowhere to turn for help.
The Prime Minister said every family would be rehoused locally and have been provided with emergency funds for essentials.
