COUNCIL BOSS RESIGNS OVER GRENFELL FIRE

The chief executive of the London council responsible for Grenfell Tower has resigned over the response to the fire which killed at least 79 people.

Residents said the initial relief effort after last week's blaze was slow and chaotic.

Nicholas Holgate of Kensington and Chelsea council says he's stepping down at the request of the government.

It's emerged insulation fitted to the building in West London could have given off enough toxic hydrogen cyanide to cause many of the deaths.
