Democrats push back on suggestions of Mueller firing

Democrats are pushing back on suggestions that U.S. President Donald Trump might think it's a good idea to fire special counsel Robert Mueller.

The American president fired off a series of posts on social media, including one which strongly implied he blames the U.S. Deputy Attorney General for his predicament.

Congressman Scalise improving

The doctors at the Washington Hospital Center say Representative Steve Scalise is in critical conditions but showing signs of improvement after three rounds of surgery.

He was the worst injured at the baseball practice, with a rifle shot to his left hip.

One U.S. Capitol police officer remains in hospital with a shattered ankle, and a lobbyist is at a separate hospital in critical condition.

Dr. Jack Sava is the lead surgeon for the trauma center at the Washington Hospital Center.

President Trump announces revising Obama's 'one-sided' Cuba deal

US President Donald Trump says he is cancelling his predecessor's deal with Cuba.

Speaking at an event in Miami Florida, Trump announced revisions to Obama's 2014 policy which began the normalisation of ties between the former cold war foes for the first time in over 5 decades.

Trump had campaigned on a promise of addressing what he called a bad deal and on Friday announced stricter travel restrictions and a limitations on money flows from US companies to businesses under the control of the Cuban Military.

Teenager Who Urged Friend to Kill Himself Convicted of Involuntary Manslaughter

A teenager in (the US state of) Massachusetts who sent a barrage of text messages to another teenager urging him to kill himself has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. She faces up to 20 years in prison.

Trump concedes he is under criminal investigation

US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he is under criminal investigation over his decision to fire FBI Director James Comey.


In a series of angry messages on Twitter, the President again described the investigation led by Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller as a "phony witch hunt".

Trump administration rolls back DAPA

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly has announced the Trump administration is formally rescinding a plan to shield some undocumented parents from being deportated. 

The Deferred Action for Parents of Childhood Arrivals program, known as DAPA, was part of the Obama administration's strategy to keep families together, but it never took effect because it was blocked by a federal court.

Amazon buys Whole Food in takeover deal priced at $13.7 billion

UN press North Korea for explanation over released prisoner’s health

A human rights investigator at the United Nations is pressing North
Korea to explain why a U.S. citizen was in a coma when he was returned
home after a year in detention.

22-year-old Otto Warmbier was arrested in January last year and handed

London Fire Death Toll Rises To 30

The number of fatalities from a fire at a tower block in London has increased to 30, with officials expecting this to increase further.


Meanwhile the Queen and Prince William have visited a refuge centre housing some of those who lost their homes and spoke to victims and the emergency services.


A number of people are still unaccounted for, but police have yet to release official figures of those missing.


The Metropolitan Police Commander Steve Cundy gave this update, explaining that the death toll has risen again.

Russia claims IS chief al-Baghdadi 'may have been killed' by its strikes
