Somalia calls for "bold and courageous" steps to help it move forward

The newly installed President of Somalia has called for the international community to take what he called bold and courageous steps to be more involved with his country, as it  continues to reform while also dealing with a severe drought. 

The call by Mohamed Famaajo came as international leaders gathered in London to agree a path to future cooperation, as Catherine Drew reports from London.

NY taxis fined for overcharging Canada asylum seekers

Three New York taxi companies has been fined for overcharging asylum
seekers trying to get to the Canadian border.

There has been an influx of people crossing over from New York state

Snap shares fall at first earnings report since IPO

Snap Inc. shares fell by 23% in after hours trading on Wednesday the
New York Stock Exchange.

The parent company to Snapchat posted a loss of 6 billion dollars from
its market value in its first earnings report since the company went
public back in March.

Russia Investigation "highly significant" - Senate testimony

The acting director of the FBI Andrew McCabe told the Senate Intelligence Committee that the investigation into Russia's meddling in the 2016 American election is continuing and highly significant.

The White House has tried to dismiss the work as minor, and should even be put aside, because no evidence of collusion has been found between Moscow and members of President Trump's inner circle.

FBI did and does support James Comey

The majority of FBI employees did and do support James Comey, the director who was fired by U.S. President Donald Trump earlier this week.

The White House has claimed that they've heard from many, many FBI employees that they had lost confidence in James Comey.

In his letter firing James Comey, U.S. President Donald Trump thanked him for reassuring him three times that he himself was not under investigation, a sentence widely interpreted as referring to the probes into Russia's influence on the 2016 elections.

Activists delivering petition on Chechnya gay rights detained in Moscow

BoE trims UK growth forecast

The Bank of England has cut its 2017 growth forecast for the UK, warning the country is likely to see inflation outpace wage growth.

International leaders gather in London to help Somalia plot its future

The newly installed President of Somalia is in London to attend an international conference to help the country continue to reform.   President Mohamed Famaajo said he would welcome international assistance as the country tackles it's three biggest enemies - terrorism, corruption and poverty.    

The gathering which includes East African heads of State and UN Chief António Guterres was opened by British Prime Minister Theresa May who said the UK's commitment to Somalia remains strong.   

 The conference aim  is to agree a  plan to map out  international support for  Somalia through 2020.   President Mohammed Famaajo told the conference work would continue to try to rebuild the formerly failed state.

Indian Muslim Women Challenge Instant Verbal Divorce

The Indian Supreme Court is deciding whether the practice of instant verbal divorce is constitutional or not.

In India, a Muslim man can simply say the word divorce or talaq thrice and end his marriage. The woman is not allowed to contest this divorce.
