Labour Day demonstrations held around Russia

Russian trade unions will stage demonstrations to mark International Workers' Day on 1 May in Moscow and in cities around Russia.  Thousands of people marking the Day of Labour are expected to turn out at rallies in Central Moscow.  Julia Lyubova reports from Moscow.

US lawmakers agree government spending budget

Erdogan meets Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan is in India on a two-day bilateral visit. This is Erdogan's first foreign visit a since winning the Turkish constitutional referendum earlier this year.

India is expected to raise its bid for membership to the Nuclear Suppliers Group with Erdogan ahead of the NSG plenary session next month.

President Trump refuses to rule out military action against North Korea

In an interview with the CBS News program "Face the Nation" - just hours after the American president denounced mainstream media as fake during a campaign-style rally in Pennsylvania - Donald Trump also had some praise for Kim Jong Un

US hiring improves, while interest rate holds

EU leaders agree guidelines for Brexit

The 27 remaining EU leaders have reached an unanimous agreement on the guidelines for Brexit - according to them, in just four minutes.
They set out that agreement must be reached on the rights of EU citizens in the UK, the status of Ireland, and the size of the divorce settlement, before talks about trade can start.

US and South Korean officials have confirmed that North Korea attempted to test-fire a ballistic missile which filed, with the White House issuing a 2 sentence statement confirming President Trump has been briefed.

US State of Arkansas executes 4th prisoner in a week

US warns of military action against North Korea

The United States says it would be willing to take military action against North Korea if it does not desist in its nuclear ambitions.

The US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson made the comments during a special high level meeting of the United Nations Security Council. 

China's Foreign Minister however warned that the use of force did not solve differences.

The US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says the world must be
stronger in its opposition to North Korea's nuclear program.

Speaking at a high-level ministerial meeting of the UN Security
Council Tillerson threatened new sanctions against Pyongyang but said
the US would prefer a "negotiated solution".

He also urged China, North's Korea's main trading partner, to cut off
all financial avenues for the country.
